Day 6 - March 6th

This morning we woke up and ate a quick breakfast, before we put on white t-shirts and headed out for Holi.

Festival

The Holi festival is a very big deal in India. The streets of Delhi were covered in different hues of color. An ancient tale suggests that Lord Krishna wanted to understand why his partner, Radha, was good while he was so mean. After talking to his mother, Lord Krishna applied color to Radha's face to see how she would change. For this reason, colored water and powder is thrown throughout the city and many young child spray each other with water; or throw colored water balloons. However, this sight was nothing compared to the delicious treats. Gujiya, a typical pastry during Holi, is a fried delight. Filled with coconut, nuts, and sugar- this classic Indian dish was fantastic. None of us were very hungry after our Gujiya, so we all headed back to the hotel drenched in color and full of excitement.  This is our favorite part about our trip so far!
