Why you should visit India

Any globetrotters out there looking to visit a country with amazing food, delightful festivals and breathtaking landmarks? You should definitely go to India! Me and some of my friends just got back from a trip to India where we visited places all across the country, and we got to see some incredible landmarks, like the Gateway to India and the Taj Mahal! We all know that any good sightseer like you has or aspires to see the Taj Mahal during their traveling career. What kind of sane human hasn't dreamed of seeing the Taj Mahal- one of the most amazing feats of beautiful architecture in the world? And all of that without even mentioning the palette-pleasing array of indigenous, delicious, and authentic Indian cuisine. If all those incredible pros to a trip to India hasn't convinced you to make a journey there, then you obviously aren't a traveler and will probably never leave your boring
home country.

Day 13 - March 13th

Our flight wasn't until 1:00 in the afternoon, so we had time to sleep in.  We woke up at around 10:00 in the morning and got brunch at a local pub.  We had great Belgian waffles and toast.  Then, after brunch, we went to the airport to catch our flight back home to Raleigh.  Our short flight back home left at around 2:00 pm and we were able to see all the cities and towns that we flew over.  We landed in RDU at 6:30 pm and all of us gathered our luggage and then parted our separate ways back to our homes where we rested and unpacked our full suitcases.

Day 12 - March 12th

Early in the morning when we reach Mumbai by bus, we board our plane at 2:15 am.  On the plane they served us a complimentary breakfast of idli. This is a rice cake that is served with a variety of chutney.  Also during the plane ride around lunch time they fed us a delicious salad.  We landed in New York at 4:25 pm later that day.  Even though it was a 22 hour plane ride, the time change made it so it was only 4 o'clock.  So we got to the Comfort Inn hotel and had pasta for dinner around 6 o'clock.  Then we went to our rooms and got some sleep to help cure some of that jet lag.

Day 11 - March 11th

The ride to Surat was bumpy, but it was worth it. For breakfast we went to a local restaurant named Jani Farshan House. We all tried their garlic crisp, which was cooked with traditional spices. After walking, we found the Ambika Niketan Temple. This temple was very religious and is dedicated to Goddess Asthabhuja Ambika. Made in 1969, this temple celebrates Navratri every year. Unfortunately this festival is held during October instead of March. However, we still had fun admiring the temple's amazing architecture. After that, we traveled to the Dumas Beach and relaxed. The black sand was outstanding and unlike anything we'd seen before, and this combined with calm waves allowed for our great trip to come to a fantastic close.

Finally, we got back to Mumbai by bus.

Day 10 - March 10th

Science

After a quick breakfast and hot showers, we headed out on a three hour plane ride to Indore. Indore is a fascinating city with so many great landmarks, and we decided to visit the Central Museum. This museum features an exciting exhibit of carved creatures or people during the medieval period. For our convenience, a complementary guide was offered; the admission was also free. Through this museum, the artifacts taught us a great deal about Indore's history, sculptures, and architectural remains. When we were done we ate at a local restaurant and took an overnight bus to Surat afterwards.

Day 9 - March 9th

Today we visited the Sawai Mansingh Cricket Stadium in Jaipur, India. This stadium holds 30,000 people at once and can also be toured. Today we decided we were just going to watch a game and root for India! We watched part of the Rajasthan vs. Gujarat game today and the Gujarat team is winning so far. Cricket matches in India usually last for around three days. Everyone gets extremely involved and many people place bets on who will win. After all this game watching we were all tired and decided it would be smart to go to the hotel and get some rest before we go to the next place.

Day 8 - March 8th

After a short, but restful night at the Radisson Blu Hotel in New Delhi, we woke up at 5:30am to have time to eat some breakfast before we leave to get on our bus to Agra. At the hotel they had a buffet of breakfast meals such as onion rava dosa and besan toast, which were all incredible and we all enjoyed the breakfast much more than our breakfast at home. The onion rava dosa was delicious and very filling.
Once we finished breakfast we headed off to our bus stop to catch our 6 o’clock bus to Agra. On the way we saw lots of cool towns and cities.

Culture

We made it to Agra at around 11:30am. We stopped and got a few sandwitchs for lunch before we went to see the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal was one of the most amazing things we had ever seen! We were able to walk along side the reflecting pool and even got a tour inside. All of the architecture was so beautiful and amazing. After the Taj Mahal we went and ate some spicy palak chole for dinner.
By then it was 6:30pm and getting time for us to get back on the bus to go to our next town, Jaipur. On the bus ride is was getting dark and we were able to see the city of Agra lit up at night. When we made it to Jaipur we were exhausted and went straight to our hotel and went right to bed.
